Can anyone answer this for me? I have a friend who hates Sugar and all things that taste sweet! Why is that? I need the scientific explanation(don't worry, I had Geology in College, along with a little Bio, Chem and such)but have never run across this before! Thanks!

Not sure, but I know that if you have problems w/sugar as in diabetes etc..

you can not taste it as well as a healthy person.

I do not like things sweet. blahh :x

Perhaps it is to do with the taste buds in our tongue. Perhaps people who dislike suger cannot taste sweet aswell as people who like it. The reverse maybe the same, for instance someone has super sensitive sweet taste and dislikes sugar because it is just to sweet for them.

Maybe it is phsycological. Or maybe it runs in their genepool. Maybe their parents don't like sugary stuff either.

My friend hates all things sweet too.

it could be through the genes of both the parents but it could be anything to do with diabetes

well cant it be like with alot of other things, why should sugar be an exception.
I hate liver, my mom loves liver. I hate spinach my friend love spinach.
I like sweet things but when its too sweet even I dont like it, try the sweetnes of sweeteners (for diabetics) that doesnt taste very good but its sweeter then sugar. I just think its just a matter of taste, like with salt and sour things.

It could be many factors from childhood experiences to genetics.
