food web

Post by jsgull » Mon Jun 12, 2006 11:30 pm

I'm trying to make a food web and I'm stuck here. I looked around and I couldn't find this anywhere. I'm looking for what in a stream that diatoms, green algae, and protozoans get energy from. Also if specific types of diatoms, green algae, and protozoans get energy from different things. Any insight would be appriciated.

Uhh... That should be obvious. Diatoms and green algae are photosynthetic.. they derive energy from the sun so they are actually the "producers" in the food chain, from whence the others depend on. Some protozoans like the Euglena are also photosynthetic while others like Paramecium feed on other smaller organisms at times.

Try Googling protozoa or algae energy sources. I'm sur you'll get tons of info from there..

Good luck.
