do endorphins directly stimulate tissue repair?

Post by nix2101 » Mon May 22, 2006 6:19 pm

I was wandering if anyone knew whether ornot research has been done into the full effects of endorphins.
Recently I had accupuncture, and as a scientist i do not believe in chi energy.. and ying and yang stuff. However my physio also said thata theory was that endorphins were released to help healing.
It got me thinking that endorphins are released after child birth, and after exercise to make you feel good, also help to ease pain. I was wandering if anyone knew if it also stimulated tissue repair, as these are obviously activities which cause damage to the body.

I may have just answered my own question here.. but does anyone know for sure..?

Also what is tissue repair exactly.. does it stimulate mitosis to occur in damaged places?

Any light on the issue would help me think about whether accupuncture is worth it or not.
