Proteins- I NEED HELP!!!

Post by simonguna1 » Sun May 21, 2006 1:56 am

What conditions are necessary for the most rapid and complete digestion of proteins within the stomach?

i think the protein digestion is in our intestine, not in stomach. and it is base not acid

How about that proteolytic enzyme called pepsine in our stomach? It breaks down proteins. But it doesn't break them down completely, only about 30% of protein digestion occurs in the stomach. But there are some proteins, like collagen, that can only be digested by the gastric juice(pepsine)

Digestion of proteins occurs in the intestines. It is completed by the enzyme trypsin which is made by the pancreas and is inserted into the small intestine. It breaks the protein down and it is absorbed. I don't think there is an optimum I think that the body does what it is supposed to.

@kilroykelim

Lipids and protein are completely unrelated...
But as said above yes protein digestion starts in the stomach, and finishes in the intestine.
