EGFR degradation

Post by sem.meln » Tue May 02, 2006 4:03 pm

Hi,
I transfect the cells with EGFR (there isn’t endogenous) and, by giving EGF, try to observe the EGFR internalization (by immunofluorescence IF) and subsequent degradation (by IF and Western), (was widely described in literature). To my surprise, I don’t see degradation, but increase in EGFR amount. Whether someone encounter a similar thing or have any idea?
Thank you,
Sem

hmmm normally EGFR is internalized and degraded by the ubiquitin mechanism
