homozygous - having two identical alleles for a given gene
heterozygous - having two different different alleles for a given gene

Example:

A will represent brown spots which is dominant (allele)
a will represent green spots which is recessive (allele)

Homozygous Dominant = AA
Homozygous Recessive = aa

Heterozygous = Aa

hope that helps
