Chernobyl disaster and cancer

Post by Enzyme » Tue Apr 18, 2006 1:04 pm

In a few days will be the 20th aniversary of the disaster. Here I'm putting a link to a website which explains a lot of things about the disaster, the physiological and environmental consequences, etc. I hope you'll like it.

Thanks for that link, we talked about this in Enviromental Science lecture yesterday. It is horrible how they didn't tell anyone what had happened for years, even the people effected.

Thanks fort the link. Well, there was another chemical disaster leading to thousands of deaths that was the Bhopal Gas Tragedy. Are there links available for its details as well?

February Beetle, Angel, thank you for taking in account the importance of this kind of disasters (as Chernobyl, Bhopal, etc). Natural disasters can't be averted but disasters caused by human mistakes can be prevented. And we can see that many governments take them as a joke...

Angel, here you have the link to the information about Bhopal gas tragedy: http://www.bhopal.com

And your relative is alright (I refer to if he/she isn't ill or something due to the disaster)? I hope your relative resulted unhurt.

Well, I live in bhopal. I was 4 years when the disaster took place. I still remember that night. The ones who died met their fates but, the affected survivors, most of them lead a miserable life. people were crippled, blinded, had sever asthma. One person had to carry an oxygen cylinder all 18 years till his death. Their are many such stories. My brother who was just 2 months at that time had asthmatic problem due to that. Thankfully he is cured now.
