Curious Subject-bacteria protozoa

Post by Bio_Girl015 » Fri Apr 14, 2006 2:50 am

Bacteria and protozoa often live in fresh water, which is a hypertonic environment. But how are bacterial cells adapted to live in a hypertonic environment??? Just Curious. :)

Yeah, I guess you could say river....maybe like lake. I'm not exactly sure. Does it really matter? Just a hypotonic solution. If you have any explaination i'd be glad to hear it. I'm confused. Thanks.

For protozoans: Contractile vacuole. water is pumped out of the cell.
For bacteria: They generally have cell walls.

ok, then i will said it is hypoyonic not hypertonic.

you know that eritrocytes can handle it so they will "injected" then die because its overwhelming volume...
but it is different if we are talking about protozoa or bacteria which has nucleus(eritrocytes do not have it). bacteria and protozoa can handle the water and keep them in the outside of the body.. yes as Poison said, protozoa has contractile vacuole.. so that they can control their osmotic degree.

NB:nucleus control the live of a cell. do not have nucleus will make the cell just act like a living thing which can not control it self...

hope this is enough
