C4 plants

Post by supernova^ » Tue Apr 11, 2006 4:56 pm

Hi.I know that C4 plants have competitive advantage over C3 plants under conditions of drought, high temperatures.etc. ,as they don't have photorespiration. But what if we put a C3 and C4 plant under normal conditions and provide them with adequate sun light - will the C4 plant grow better than the C3 plant?

I'd say yes. Also I think the C4 is adapted to higher light intensity conditions...not drought.
