I think the product rule is when you are predicting outcomes that depend on each other, then you multiply the probabilities to each other. Like the probabilty that a mother will have all girls if 4 girls are born. And I'm not sure what you mean by chance of probability. Chance is just randomness. And probability is a ratio or percentage that an event will happen. I haven't taken genetics since a year ago though, so I might be wrong.
