My question is whether the pentadactyl limb is a characteristic of all mammals or a characteristic of only primates??

Kiekyon already answered. Use your brain, do some search on the web on the structure of mammal limbs etc.

penta = 5
dactyl = digit (fingers, thumbs, toes)

Pentadactyl limbs is a common feature found in tetrapods.
The class amphibian, reptile, aves (birds), and mammals fall under this superclass tetrapods.
The order primates fall under the class mammalia (mammals).
So primates are mammals and they are Pentadactyl.

Mapd I think you are mixing Pdt Lmbs with Opposing Thumbs, which would make a very interesting study.
