Why must substances move across your plasma membrane in order for you to survive and maintain homeostasis?

waste... like lactat-acid. if you do not "kick" it out from your body you won't fell right.
or if you do not pick CO2 out from your body, you will be poisoned.
and i think that is not a good livestyle
