Textbooks keep saying only xylem provides support to plants as it has lignified cell wall. But how about phloem? Phloem is also a tube but with nothing to support it I guess it will collapse too. Is there anything supporting phloem and does it contribute to the support to plants? Also, do phloem provides turgidity to plants for support too?
