Post by hoiki426 » Tue Jan 31, 2006 9:53 am

I just want to ask...

When new xylem vessel formed ,the older xylem will be pushed inwards
so.... where will the pith go then?

During the early secondary growth, many pith cells are crushed, as a consequence both of movement of the vine and of inward pressure of developing xylem tissue.

The xylem then shows several growth layers. As the individual wedges of vascular tissues increase in size, new rays develop within them. The pith and some of the inner parts of the interfascicular areas are almost completely crushed.

What are pith cells? Probably translation problem
