Two genes are associated with survival of breast cancer

Post by whbio » Thu Aug 18, 2016 1:31 pm

According to a study published in the journal Oncotarget, measuring the activity of two genes may help identify which women are more likely to dying from their breast cancers.

In the study, Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) scientists investigated about 2,000 women with HER2 positive breast cancer, and found that patients with high activity in the F12 gene and low activity in the STC2 gene had a 32 percent likelihood of dying from their cancers within 10 years, while those with low activity in F12 and high activity in STC2 had a 10 percent likelihood of dying.
