Human antibodies may be used to treat Zika infection

Post by whbio » Tue Jul 19, 2016 6:10 am

An international research team has found new monoclonal antibodies that may be used in prevention and treatment of Zika infection. These antibodies are deprived from patients who are infected with Zika virus.

Zika is usually transmitted to people through the bite of infected mosquitoes. Moreover, it can also spread through sexual contact and mother to child transmission. Zika infection has become a Public Health Emergency of International Concern due to an outbreak since 2015.
