ischiopubic ratio??

Post by catcch22 » Fri Jan 20, 2006 1:15 am

does the "ischiopubic ratio" actually exist?? can it be used in sex determination...or is there some other "ratio" involved in this (apart from the obvious pelvic differences between sexes)?.......

and to kill a few more birds with one stone...

why do structures pass from the greater back into the lesser sciatic foramen? is it so that structures that continue inferiorly won't be compressed/damaged when we sit down?

"Ischiopubic ratio" is a ratio of ischium:pubicum. You know, this comes from trio ischium-illium-pubicum (pubis) from pelvic bone 8)

Look at the figure for the detail. Click the pic to view the full-size :)

does that mean the ischio-pubic ratio basically = the pelvic ratio? (i.e. the differences in the pelvis dimensions b/w males + females??)

wow thanks heaps, btw!!
