Can fungi develop cancer?

Post by Dar » Sat May 30, 2015 8:29 pm

I know some fungi are multi-cellular and have at least temporary cell specialization. I also know they are eukaryotes. Can their cells mutate and become cancerous? How would that affect them? I realize that there are many kinds of fungi, but I'm not a specialist, so I don't know which kinds to focus on.

Thanks! :)
