Post by JC314 » Thu May 14, 2015 4:05 am

I Have an Unknown bacteria with the following characteristics: #1
>White, Circular on a TSA plate (Fastidious bacteria) ...Very stubborn growing even in an Enriched media as Blood Agar.
>Grows in Temp. of 25-42 Celsius... optimum is 37.
>Gram + Bacillus... Looks like a coccobacilli under the microscope.
>Grew way better on Starch Agar
Test Performed:

>Didnt grow in a MSA of 7.5% Nacl
>Oxidase Negative (-)
>Grew in Anaerobic Jar (no oxygen)
> Facultative Anaerobe (grew all the way to the bottom in a Thioglycolate deep)
>Fermented without gas:
Sucrose
Mannitol
Lactose
Glucose
>Amylase (-)
>Catalase (-)
>Urease (-)
I believe its either Mycobacterium phlei or Corynebacterium xerosis ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED THANKS!
