Zebra fish with glowing muscles

Post by dpgg94 » Fri May 08, 2015 11:14 am

I am wondering how the luminescent gene is injected into zebra fish so that only muscles of the fish glow under black light? How is it targeted at the muscles specifically and the role of muscle specific promoters in this process?

Is it always that gene insertion in such organisms requires recombinant DNA and a virus or plasmid to insert the gene into the genome of the organism? If recombinant DNA and restriction enzymes are not used, are there any other ways of such gene insertion?

Thank you!
