You are a newbie in Immunology eh? ;)

Antibody (Ab) or immunoglubulin (Ig) is a specific protein that produced by immune system, i.e. plasma cell, a derivative of lymphocyte (B-cell). The production of antibody is stimulated by foreign substance(s) (nonself) that entering individual's body, it is said as "immune reponse". If substance(s) is recognized as self, the immune system will not respond by producing antibody, it is said as "immune tolerance".

Antigen (Ag) is a foreign substance, e.g. nonself proteins, peptidoglicans, polysaccharide, etc. that capable to induce immune response, including humoral and/or cellular response(s).

The reaction between antigen:antibody is specific, which one antigen will be bound by specific antibody for that antigen only, just like how an enzyme works to its substrate or just like a hormone works through its receptor, always one:one.

I could help you to explain the reaction if you need that, after you understand your question here.

More questions are welcome :)
