Chicken or egg formed first

Post by josem » Thu Jul 17, 2014 7:14 pm

Chicken or egg formed first is always a dilemma if we consider it for only few thousand years. If we digging the phylogeny of chicken (a bird) for some hundred million years, which is evolved from reptiles, digging the phylogeny from reptiles shows following order amphibians, fishes, invertebrates finally prokaryotes. Up to invertebrate has egg laying capability. If we considering the question egg or chicken formed first, we can change it into organism or their reproductive structure (egg) formed first, if we dig the phylogeny of chicken we end up in prokaryotes which is an organism with no egg laying capability. So we can conclude that chicken (an organism) formed first. First egg laying organism evolved from prokaryotes during the course of time.

The egg!

A prokaryote is certainly not a chicken! What's your agenda??

Prokaryote never be chicken. But I mean chicken ultimately evolved from prokaryote within time frame of few hundred million years. So very very distant ancestor of chicken is a prokaryote.

Somebody would say egg formed first because without egg how chicken formed. Some other would say the opposite with same reasoning. If somebody has an egg, it formed from a chicken, later formed from egg. If we follow egg-chicken story in chronological order (follow the phylogeny), egg-chicken-egg-chicken-egg-…………..-reptiles-egg…………-amphibians-egg…………..-fishes-egg…………..-invertebrate- egg …………prokaryotes-prokaryote-prokaryote…… So very distant ancestors of chicken had no egg laying capability.

But what it you draw the line at chicken and don't look at the ancestors of a chicken. The chicken came from an egg, the egg came from an ancestor that was slightly different to a chicken but wasn't a chicken, but the chicken still came form an egg.

There is some modification in above topic. Somebody would say egg formed first because
without egg how chicken formed. Some other
would say the opposite with same reasoning. If
somebody has an egg, it formed from a chicken,
later formed from egg. If we follow egg-chicken
story in chronological order (follow the
phylogeny), egg-chicken-egg-chicken-egg-
…………..-reptiles-egg…………-amphibians-
egg…………..-fishes-egg…………..-invertebrate- egg
…..…protozoa-protozoa-protozoa…… So
very distant ancestors of chicken had no egg
laying capability.
