Post by cheer4life90 » Tue Jan 03, 2006 3:45 am

Can any of you tell me what the chromosome number of parent cells of mitosis and meiosis is?? Also I need to know the number of DNA replications on Mitosis and Meiosis...

Thanx bunches,

normally
both are 2n or diploid (it is depend on what organism you are talking about. for example human has 46 chromosomes)

at mitosis.
of course it is once duplication.
parent cell is 2n when interphase,
parent cell is 4n when end of prophase till anaphase,
then at telophase it is become 2 cell, doughter cell, so that each of it has 2n (4n/2=2n)

at meiosis
it is the same. 2n at interphase, and 4n at prophase1 till anaphase1. then at meiosis2 no more DNA replication so that when one cell become 2 doughter cell it is n(haploid)

NB : the number of "n" is the mirror for us to detect the DNA replication occurs or not.

if you still have more information try google.
well u can try this also

See our tutorials, google, yahoo etc... Or even better your text book.
We don't do your homework for you. This is very basic you'll find the answers everywhere.
