In cats, coat color is an X-linked trait where a black coat is determined by the XB allele and a yellow coat by the Xb allele. Black and yellow are co-dominant and a heterozygote has a tortoiseshell coat.

a) A yellow female cat is bred to a black tom. Write out the cross to show the genotypes. What are phenotypes and phenotype ratios of the kittens? (Include the genders)

b) A tortoiseshell female is bred to a yellow male. Write out the cross to show the genotypes. What are the phenotypes and phenotypic ratios of the kittens? (Include the genders)
