Human blood has same makeup of plants?

Human blood has same makeup of plants?

Is it true that a section of human blood seen under a microscope has the same makeup of plants? I was told this by someone who uses essential oils and they said that the reason they worked was because human blood and plants have the exact makeup -- can one of you intelligent biologists help me out here. Thank you so much!

What they are refering to is the "missing link" theories of Gary Young owner? of "Young Living Essential Oils" and author of a series of tapes and books.

The theory is complete rubbish and is debunked at "Quackwatch"

Young says: "You see, in the human body we have a substance called blood, and that blood has a very specific purpose. That purpose is to transport nutrients to the cells, to nurture and feed the cells. . . . .When we look at Essential Oils [sic], they have the same role, and play the same function in the plant, as blood does in the human body."

Reality: This is false. Plants do not use essential oils to transport nutrients. Plants transport nutrients in the phloem and water in the xylem. Few plants, approximately 5% of plant species, even produce essential oils. Essential oils can be toxic when in direct content with plant cells, and are stored in special oil glands to prevent damage the plant.



The "theory" is then used to sell a range of essential oils and "therapies"


Essential oils do have a role in medicine / health care but its got nothing to do with them being "like blood"

I thought it sounded a bit off and so I wanted to confirm that and learn more about plant and human blood makeup. Thanks for taking the time to answer me.

If you have any doubt, then look at this. The first image is how blood looks when gazing at it through a microscope. The second is the stem of a plant. The difference is obvious

I do not have an idea about it, but there is a similarity between a component of animal blood and a component of plant that is haemoglobine and chlorophyll. They both have a similar chemical structure except the core, it is Fe in haemoglobine and Mg in chlorophyll. But of course these cannot be seen under microscope :wink:

Maybe the similarity is in the heme structure but only different in Mg and Fe.

They have the same nitrogenous bases, just arranged in a different order. :D

They have similar constituents on cells structure :D

But the question is 'something similar seen under microscope' so I think I do not answer that question :lol: :oops:
