Metabolism, good or bad!

Post by burningredphoenix » Sun Nov 20, 2005 10:30 pm

I hear people always saying that one has a good metabolism if one can stay skinny even if one eats a lot.

I happen to have this so called "good metabolism."

My view is that it's not so good if your body is always swetting.(ATP is being burned without any efforts of conserving it.)

This, I believe is what causes people with, "good metabolism," to eat a lot in the first place.

Any one have an opinion on this issue or not

It is about the amount of tyroid hormone secrated. those people which eat a lot and stay skinny, usually suffer from hypertyroidism; which has bad sides. like anxiety, hot feeling, sweating and so on. And, no, it is definetely not "good metabolism".

the 'good' metabilsm is depend on our activity.

when we want to increase our weight, we eat much and it goes on. it work right. so we call it a 'good' metabolism. but if we eat more than ever, but our weight does not increase as we want it said as a 'bad' metabolism. so it is relative.

People who have hypertyroidism, are really "skinny" not "slim". I mean It does not look good. Also the eyes look different. I coundn't remember the word for that look now.

also, if you exercise a lot and are very active like me, you can maintain ur weight even with hypothyroidism, which i do. however, i will not grow any taller because my thyroxine levels are low

I think it is about the level or something. The eyes look like they are more out of their place.

The condition is called exophtalmism(the eyes are out of their place). However, the rate of cellular respiration in the human body is the result of many interacting hormones, not only tyroid hormones. and, within certain limits, you can eat more and stay slim and have a perfectly healthy body. I eat 5 meals a day and i don't gain weight. And i don't have Basedow-Graves desease.. At least i don't think i do...
