What do you have too do to get the "cool" title?

I don't know. A least not being at the edge of nervous breakdown half of the time would be a start :) But science sometimes make you feel like manic/depressive: Manic with joy when your experiments are working, and depressive when they do not work or do not give you the expected result. I can turn from one state to the other many times a day...

But all the cool scientists you named are one that reached some fame. I am still far from that. Not a paper in Science or Nature 8) Well maybe not too far if my boss is right and if we can confirm some of my results, but this is far from being a certainty, so...

I am pretty sure that at least when you become a nobel you don't have a boss to bug you anymore... And you can cool off by bugging you own post-docs then
But I am still low on the food chain, with just enough responsability to be bugged more than the regular slave/student. But still I love my job :D

I wouldn't, I know how lazy I am, and how badly I sometimes need to be recalled to go to work instead of spending all my time on Internet forum.
In fact you have to find the balence between between relax and stressful to get results. And my boss is not that bad, it just get annoying when those *!_at_^** experiments don'y work as they should. In fact I understand him when is no really happy when about 400 of my PCR didn't work. And I wasn't happy either.
