Effects of temperature on plant cells(beetroot)

Post by Madbio » Thu Nov 10, 2005 5:28 pm

Will the pigment colour of plants gain more energy as temperature increase in the water aroound them and start to diffuse out of the cell through the partially permiable membrane,
But won't the Membrane get damaged by high temparatures.

The pigments will gain kinetic energy as temperature rises. The membrane will not be destroyed...however, the proteins in the membrane will denature if the temperature raises high enough.

The Membrane will be broken down by high temperature as well. So that along with extra kinetic engey effects the experiment.

I mean thing about it, at a high enough temperature it could be liquid!

Of course it can. At high temperatures the membrane tends to lose it's unity, a state known as liquid cristal.
