Help Help!! ATP ADP Mitochondria

Post by Understudy » Thu Nov 10, 2005 5:19 am

I am having problems understanding cellular respiration and how ATP and ADP are created. I don't understand why when you add a pyruvate and ADP to a mitochondria the oxygen consumption goes down. :?: :?

Because the oxigen is the final acceptor of the electron trasport; oxigen is reduced in water and for it his concentration decreases; ADP decreases because ATPases using H production in electron transport, change ADP in ATP.
Pyruvate produced by glicolysis, goes to Krebs cicle, and finally in electron transport; Krebs cycle and electron transport need oxigen.
