a question about experimental data handling

Post by ludwigye » Mon Oct 24, 2005 11:46 pm

Variance:"the averge size of the squared deviates in a data-set.It's a measure of the variability of a data-set that is not affected by sample size."

"not affected by sample size"Dose that mean even if much more data are collected, the variance remain the same?(I don't thick so,but I don't know how it will chang)

Thanks!

no, it just means it does not reveal info about the sample size.
For example the average only tells you what the mean value is. It doesn't tell you how many values there are but it does tell you if you add them up and divide by the number of elements you will get that number.
