Isn't colicin an antibiotic? From what i know some strands of E.coli produce it...

Yes, collicin is an antibiotic that is produced by E.Coli.

e.coli produce colicins;
p.aeroginosa produces pyocins.but they r not antibioticz.

Depends on what you call antibiotic :wink:

More seriously, colicin have such a narrow range of activity (They are mostly intraspecific, and there is a lot of resistance) that they cannot be used as antibiotic in medicine.

But I can't give a more precise answer to the original post :(

Some strands of E.coli produce it to kill other strands... :D That's all i know.. Seems antibiotic to me. But Patrick is the expert. From a medical point, you are right, it is useless
