Gluconeogenesis

Hello all.

What is the origin of HCO3- where it enters at the first step of gluconeogenesis? Is it from carbonic anhydrase?

And yes, the equilibrium is maintained by carbonic anhydrase, but even without it there would be some (HCO3)-, but it could be replenished quickly.

Thanks very much! Is there any compartmentalisation of carbonic anhydrase, or can it be present anywhere?
