Path of an electron through the electron transport chain

Post by Iambiodude » Fri Mar 02, 2012 2:39 am

Hi Guys ,

I'm trying to do a biology assignment and can't get passed this question. I have no idea as to how I should proceed forth.

1) Use a flowchart to show the path an electron would take in the ETC from start to finish. Show the products of each step if possible.

Any help or insight from the knowledgeable folks would be very appreciated =)

It's simple.

The journey starts when NADH (or FADH2) delivers two electrons to the transport chain.

The cahin is in fact made of a number of proteins in the inner mitochondrial membrane (or bacterium membrane) including citochrome. Thake a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electron_transport_chain for details.

The last member of the ETC gives the electrons to oxigen which takes protons as well becoming a water.
