How does humidity affect leaf water potential?

Post by ashhh » Mon Jan 16, 2012 1:49 am

Hi, can anybody help answer whether I would be right to assume that an increase in relative humidity would increase leaf water potential?

Thanks

What is leaf water potential Ashhh? I know that plants transpire less in humid conditions, which probably means they retain more water in their leaves than in other conditions. My immediate interest in joining this site was to discover to what extent plants are in control of their transpiration. I don't mean the obvious opening and closing of stomata. I am wondering what chemical and environmental factors could also be in operation.
