identify this mystery thing found in my yard..

Post by asdf » Thu Sep 08, 2005 4:49 am

my mom found what looked to be an egg in the yard while gardening. she put it in a jar with a moist cloth, and waited to see what happened. well, here it is. it's strange, to say the least.

if the pics don't work i'll host them elsewhere. first two pics are HUGE.

I'm gonna guess it's some kind of fungus. Very weird looking either way.

I don't think it is an animal. It looks more like a plant or a fungus. But I can't say for sure.

Yes, its a fungus. not sure about the exact species but its a Phallus species of some sort. I bet it smelled terrible. Try the botany forum?

I've seen something like that too in my yard, mine was black inside.

I think it's a type of stinkhorn fungus
