I may sound funny too, but I remember reading this too. Probably somewhere here or... I don't remember.

Here is the link from this forum where this thing is written: :) ( search function REALLY helps... ;) )

And yes nobody understood the thing properly. That's why I said "I read it", not "understood it".

I think they are referring to differentiation from different stem cells, not getting germ cells from the same source.

hi
the primer determinant of sex of human embryo is certainly sex chromosomes. for example in humans presence of y chromosomal gene SRY is sufficient for male sex determination. Sry expresses during earlier stages of gonal development in a progenetor cells then they become pre sertoli cells, these cells sends signal to germ cells so switch it programme towards male mode of meotic division. whereas in absence of SRY exprssion in femal embyonic gonal makes the cells to granulosa preceursors, then these cells sends signlas to germ cells to undergo femal sex specific meiotic arrest. so sex is primearly decided by sex chromosomes and secondarly is executed to germ cells.

Um, I just know for the first step..where male's sperm determines sex by carrying X or Y sex chromosome.
