free electronic lab notebook

Post by tseifer » Tue Feb 15, 2011 1:28 pm

Hi everyone,
There's a great new electronic (online) lab notebook, which is free !
At http://www.sparklix.com
And is pretty amazing.
It's not saying it only because I'm one of its developers :-)
but also because many people, including 100 scientists in the NIH during a trial, have really liked it.

The software is REALLY for free, without any hidden costs, and we're even considering making it open-source.
It let people document all of the experiments, protocols, projects, and materials, including all related files, in a secured and intuitive way.
You can easily search old experiments, and share specific experiments with people you choose (if you want) in order to work together.

Enjoy !

Sounds interesting, but I am not willing to rely on any 3rd party to take care of my results. [gollum]My precious[/gollum] Or if it could be hosted on a server in my institution, then maybe.

I would however heartily recommend it if I ever have to teach another lab based course. I could see it as wonderful tool for that. Sharing lab books between groups of students and the instructor. Access to it to see what has been recorded and how. Actually it looks like a wonderful tool for that.
