Alcohol and Enzymes

Post by MWestern » Tue Jan 11, 2011 4:58 am

What effects do alcohol usually have on enzymes. Particularly the Catalase enzyme. I am confused because some sources suggest it affects the second level protein configuration of the enzymes while other say the tertiary level.

does it really matters, whether is it seondary or tertiary structure? The point is, that it's denatured and I bet, that if you break one level, the other comes with it.But of course it depends on stability of secondary structures, which is approximatly as follows: alpha-helix > antiparallel beta-sheets > parallel beta-sheets

Cis or trans? That's what matters.
