What might you see if you ran a DNA sample extracted from evidence on a gel before PCR?

depends on what type of DNA you extracted. If you mean some human, you probably extracted genomic DNA, rigth? In such a case, you could see some smear near the hole(?), you put your sample into, if you handled your DNA properly, because the chromosomes are quite huge to move significantly in normal electrophoresis
