Coniferous = Conifer; Deciduous = .....?

Post by ser420 » Wed Jul 28, 2010 2:11 am

If a coniferous tree can be referred to as simply a conifer, what would you call a deciduous tree if you were to treat the word in the same manner? I hope that makes sense to you guys. This question has been bugging me for a while and no one I talk to seems to know. It just doesn't seem logical that deciduous trees have no "nickname". Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Simplest way I can remember wouldnt be along the same lines as coniferous = conifer.

Deciduous = falls off. seasonally / at maturity (leaves)
