Colorblindness & Blood Type Genetics Problem

Post by jtwin2 » Wed Jul 07, 2010 2:09 am

A colorblind man with blood type AB marries a woman with normal vision and blood type A who is heterozygous for both traits. What are the odds of having a daughter that is colorblind and has blood type A?

2. Relevant equations

Xc Y IA IB x XC Xc IA i

3. The attempt at a solution

Dont know if it is 2/8=1/4 or 2/16=1/8

Cis or trans? That's what matters.

You need to know if the mother is a carrier of the colorblind allele.

so it's 1/8 eventhough the question asks only about the daughter and not the sons

IMHO the question is, what is the odd, they will have daugther with some properties, not what is the odd, that their daugther will have some properties. But I may be wrong...
