The meaning depends on which field the term is. I study Immunobiology and in my field PDB is "Protein Data Bank", a single worldwide repository for the processing and distribution of 3D biological macromolecular structure data.

i totally agrre --> my book 'Biochemistry' by Jeremy M. Berg et al states that the structures of more than 10.000proteins have been elucidated by NMR and X-ray crystallography and that they are stored at the Protein DataBank.

So what does the information that are stored inside the pdb files that are downloaded from the protein databank means?

structure can be analized, to investigate how the proteins behve and bind to other molecules for example.

NMR: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. An imaging technique that does not use radiation.
