what is a type of epidermis tissue?

I have searched for plant tissue in tutorials. It's said that epidermis is complex tissue. But in my books say that it's single tissue. Is it complex, single or both ??? Pls suggest and answer me. Thank you very much.

Simple has only one type of cell. Complex has several types of cells. ??
