Tree Identification

Post by dazymoose » Fri Apr 30, 2010 4:43 pm

I'm trying to find out what type of tree this is. It's huge and has 12 in velvety leaves and beautiful white/pink flowers blooming in the spring. I've attached a picture - it isn't great, sorry. I'd love to find out what it is though :D
I live in Dallas TX if that helps

from that picture you can recognize only the color of the flowers and maybe roughly shape of the leafs...

Cis or trans? That's what matters.

I think it's a species of Catalpa (maybe Catalpa bignonioides).
See:wikipedia: Catalpa genus
But the picture isn't really good, if you have another one please upload.

It looks like a catalpa tree of order Bignoniaceae is also called a cigar tree or bean tree.
