How many gametes?

Post by klapausius » Thu Apr 29, 2010 6:20 am

A hypothetical organism has two distinct chromosomes (2n=4) and fifty known genes with two alleles. if an individual is heterozygous at all known loc, how many gametes can be produced if all the genes behave independently?

A) about 10,000
B) 4
C) about 100,000
D) about 1.1 x 10^15

my guess is A) not sure if its right
no of alleles 50 x 2 = 100
100^2= 10,000
