Research Ideas

Post by dentistrybiology » Thu Apr 29, 2010 4:14 am

So I want to do some research _at_ my university, and we usually do smaller animal research (like on mosquitos) mainly because they are less expensive, and easier to handle.

I wanted to start a new project, and was curious if you guys had any ideas. Im looking for the following:

- An organism that is easy to handle (i.e., not a shark), and that is not extremely costly (i.e. not $1000 per organism)
-Something that hasnt really been well studied, that can possibly be published.

Thanks for the help!

environmental microbiology is super cheap and very easily done anywhere.

boring? yes. research project? yes

just extract DNA from the soil, do PCR on the DNA looking for a specific gene and then find out what organisms are there and have that gene, and then put them in order based on how closely they are related.
