sample preparation for SDS-PAGE

Post by roniadam » Wed Apr 14, 2010 3:06 pm

Hi

I got confusion about the function of Laemmli sample buffer....
Does Laemmli sample buffer lyse adherent cells for SDS-PAGE? or I need to lyse my cells first with a cell lysis solution and then dilute the cell lysate with laemmli buffer?

IMHO you have to lyse the cells first, but I'm not expert in PAGE

Cis or trans? That's what matters.

i think this laemmli buffer is just a type of cell lysis buffer. i looked at the recipe and it seems very similar to the sample buffer i use. I mean, BME, glycerol, SDS, bromphenol blue... looks like sample buffer to me
