Polymorphic markers

Post by james86 » Sat Mar 20, 2010 11:44 am

Hi, I had a quick question. My notes say that "polymorphic markers allow genetic mapping of pedigrees to identify approximate locations of genes contributing to disease phenotypes". I am unable to understand this statement; would it be possible for someone to explain it to me?

Thank you very much in advance.
