Flowers in winter

Post by dams88 » Sat Feb 20, 2010 6:30 pm

Hello!
I'm French so I'll try to speak English...
I make a work speaking about the plants flowering during winter.
For this work, I want to know how is a flower able to flower during winter (for example: Hamamelis, Sarcoccoca, ...). How aren't flower organs destroyed by cold temperatures?
Thanks.

they need to be cold tolerant and be able to flower during short days.
