Selective Breeding

Post by jessssxloveee » Sun Feb 07, 2010 3:09 pm

I understand that this crossing different plants and animals to obtain certain traits, but what exactly does it mean to "obtain" traits? I think it just means to get hybrids that have those traits, but I could be wrong. Can anyone help?

Edit: In other words, I came up with this definition:

Selective breeding is crossing different plants and animals to get certain genetic traits in the hybrids that those crosses produce.

Is this a correct summary of selective breeding? Or is there a piece that I should fix?

it looks fine
and how about adding "artificial"
it isn't what you do that matters but it is how you do it
